Youth Internet Governance Forums in most of the cases are the youth Initiatives of the Internet Governance Forums which are form with the goal of encouraging and involving young people in the emerging issues of the Internet governance. The youth IGFs are formed in both national and regional level and they follow the same principles as of UN IGF being open, inclusive, non-commercial and multi-stakeholder.
Youth IGF (yIGF) Nepal
yIGF Nepal is a youth Initiative formed to encourage and involve the young people in the substantive discussion on the Issues of Internet Governance. Given the fact that more than 40% of the current population of Nepal is represented by the youth. Youth IGF Nepal is an open forum that provides a platform for the young people to exchange their experiences and also learn about the issues of Internet governance and raise the opinions of youth in national and international policy discussions. This platform also helps in capacity building of youths representing different stakeholders in the emerging issues of Internet governance such as Digital Divide, Universal Access, AI Governance, Freedom of Expression online and more. yIGF Nepal follows the same fundamental principles of UN Internet Governance Forum (IGF) being multi-stakeholder, open, inclusive, bottom-up, and non commercial.

Internet Governance Forum (IGF) is a multi-stakeholder platform to discuss various issues of Internet governance. This is one of the major outcomes of WSIS, which was held in two installments in 2003 and 2005, respectively in Geneva and Tunis. The IGF serves to bring people together from various stakeholder groups as equals, in discussions on public policy issues relating to the Internet. At annual meetings delegates discuss, exchange information and share good practices with each other. The IGF facilitates a common understanding of how to maximize Internet opportunities and address risks and challenges that arise. The Forum brings various stakeholder groups to the table as equals to exchange information and share good practices. IGF has no decision-making mandates; it informs and inspires those who do. It facilitates a common understanding to maximize Internet opportunities and address risks and challenges.
